Artist Statement

I know that life is hard and that nothing is perfect due to all the mistakes everyone makes. It is our responsibility to take it easy on ourselves, not to mention that it's essential to know and accept who we sincerely are. As a person on the autism spectrum, I was inattentive during my childhood. My mental age was estimated to be around seven years younger than my actual age. In adulthood, my learning and creativity are maturing around what's happening in this world. Since verbal communication is not my favorite way to communicate, I discovered that visual language is my personal way of articulating my thoughts about everyday life.

In my paintings and drawings, I render colors and symbols in a style that blends realism and surrealism, allowing me to define any concepts or themes that address humanity’s condition, social issues, self-identity, and different abstracts. I usually color my subjects, especially people, with different hues to signify different meanings. I find inspiration from cartoons when characters display their emotions via color, such as turning red for anger, blue for depression, or green for sickness. Combining my inspiration and symbolism with real life imagery will capture people's understanding of everyday life and encourage them to make changes that have a positive impact on their lives and those around them.
